Workshop Description: This workshop will provide an explanation of an approach that a residential community has taken to help increase student academic achievement while decreasing disciplinary issues.  The audience will learn how such an approach works, how it was effective and discuss how an approach can assist them and the community they work for or participate within.  There will also be discussion on how to alter such an approach to help benefit that community of students.  This session will focus especially on first year resident communities.

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Learn about and describe the successes at La Salle University using this model of incorporating academic success.
  2. Learn ways to better incorporate academic success in residence hall programming.
  3. Have the opportunity to brainstorm and generate ideas about how to facilitate these types of programs in their own communities and universities.
  4. Gain a unique perspective on using academic success as a motivating tool to increase student commitment to academics while improving student behavior and decreasing conduct incidents within a community.

*Residential Leadership | CEO LEAD Certificate Specialization Series:
If students attend any three (3) Residential Leadership Workshops in addition to six (6) CEO LEAD Workshops throughout the 2012-2013 academic year, students will earn a CEO LEAD Leadership Certificate and a Specialization in Residential Leadership. Note: All Specializations and CEO LEAD Leadership Certificates will be distributed at the Annual CEO LEAD Awards & Recognition Reception in Spring 2013.
