Workshop Description: This workshop will provide an explanation of an approach that a residential community has taken to help increase student academic achievement while decreasing disciplinary issues. The audience will learn how such an approach works, how it was effective and discuss how an approach can assist them and the community they work for or participate within. There will also be discussion on how to alter such an approach to help benefit that community of students. This session will focus especially on first year resident communities.
Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

- Learn ways to better incorporate academic success in residence hall programming.
- Have the opportunity to brainstorm and generate ideas about how to facilitate these types of programs in their own communities and universities.
